The largest annual event for the township of Cloncurry, the Ernest Henry Mining Curry Merry Muster Festival is adding a shop local campaign to its extensive 2015 program.
Attracting hundreds and even thousands of visitors to Cloncurry annually since 1954, organisers of the Merry Muster are teaming with the Cloncurry Shire Council Local Business Committee to host a “Shop Local this Muster” campaign in the week leading up to the Festival.
Kicking off on Monday July 27 the campaign is aimed at supporting local businesses; many of whose sponsorship funds are a key income source for the event annually.
A first of its kind for the Curry Merry Muster Festival and the newly formed Business Committee, Festival President Jeremy Grimm was proud to announce over $10,000 in local shopping vouchers and prizes up for grabs.
“Local businesses have been extremely receptive and supportive of this new initiative.”
“For our first year we have been able to secure close to 30 participating businesses and prizes ranging from new tyres to butcher vouchers” he said.
“Collectively we (Curry Merry Muster Festival Committee and Cloncurry Shire Council Local Business Committee) wanted to encourage the support of our local businesses and reward shoppers for their patronage; the ‘Shop Local this Muster’ campaign the outcome”.
Drawn after 7pm at the Merry Muster Rodeo Friday July 31 and split into 3 prizes, patrons simply need to send $10 or more in any participating business sporting the ‘Shop Local this Muster’ poster between Monday July 27 and Friday July 30 to go in the draw (terms and conditions apply, winners must be present at draw).
Details on terms and conditions and participating businesses are available from the Shop Local page on the Merry Muster website.
The 2015 Ernest Henry Mining Curry Merry Muster Festival kicks off with the Alliance Airlines Street Parade Thursday July 30; running through to Sunday August 2.
